TravelSpend also has a daily budget
TravelSpend’s remaining daily budget divides the budget available at the start of the day by the days left. That is different from its historical daily average. TravelBudget’s Safe to Spend is designed around planned costs as well as remaining money and days. Compare how each handles an unpaid hotel or a large one-off activity, rather than assuming only one app offers a daily number.
Shared debts are different from personal spending room
Illustrative case: you pay €120 for dinner for three people. The group owes you €80, but your account has still paid €120 until reimbursement. A shared-expense tool tracks the debt; your personal budget must also account for cash available. Do not count an unsettled reimbursement twice.
Why Trail Wallet is not in the shortlist
Its publisher announced the end of Trail Wallet in September 2022. An old installation is not a reliable basis for a new-app recommendation. If you still use it, review the publisher’s export guidance before relying on it for another trip.
Test offline use before leaving
- Create a sample trip and record an expense in airplane mode.
- Check access to saved exchange rates and whether rates need refreshing online.
- For shared trips, distinguish entering expenses offline from synchronising with another phone.
- Check current store pricing, feature limits and export options.
When a spreadsheet is enough
For a simple itinerary, prepare categories and totals yourself. Download the travel-budget CSV template, open it in your chosen spreadsheet app and verify local availability before departure.
