MoatCheck is a web-based investment research tool that helps users analyze companies using public financial data. This policy explains how data is collected, used, and stored.

Browser Local Storage

MoatCheck uses browser local storage to save preferences and recent searches locally on your device. This data stays in your browser and is not transmitted to our servers.

Network Requests

When you search for a company, MoatCheck sends requests to a backend API that retrieves data from public sources. Your search queries are sent to our server to fetch the requested data.

Third-Party Data Sources

MoatCheck retrieves financial data from public sources including SEC EDGAR filings and third-party financial data providers. These requests are made server-side; your searches are not directly shared with these external data providers in a way that identifies you personally.

Backend Infrastructure

MoatCheck uses Supabase for backend services. Data transmitted to the backend is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. See Supabase Privacy Policy for their data handling practices.

Analytics

MoatCheck may collect anonymous usage analytics to understand which features are used. If present, this data is collected in aggregate and is not used to personally identify you.

No Advertising

MoatCheck does not display third-party advertisements and does not share your data with advertising networks.

Data You Control

Since MoatCheck stores preferences locally in your browser, you can clear this data by clearing your browser's local storage for the site. No account is required to use MoatCheck.
